The oligarch’s wife Ivanka is good friends with Dasha Zhukova, the art-collector wife of oligarch Roman Abramovich, one of the richest men in Russia.

Abramovich isn’t just the owner of the Chelsea soccer club; he’s reportedly a member of Putin’s inner circle.

Maybe Ivanka feels OK tweeting or posing for press photos with these people because her contacts with them are merely social.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions, facing calls from Democrats to resign, has agreed to recuse himself from investigations into the Trump campaign’s relationship with Russia after news emerged that he, too, had spoken privately with the ambassador.

Broadcasting these connections also comes off as politically questionable as her father, family and the Trump administration face mounting questions about conflicts of interest and their dealings with a country that interfered in our presidential election.

Either Ivanka is naive, tone deaf to “optics,” or a master at compartmentalizing.

Along with her husband, she has been described as one of her father’s most trusted advisors.

And, like her brother Donald Jr., she was a vice president in their father’s Trump Organization before she decided to relocate with her family to Washington DC.

Trump’s original campaign manager Cory Lewandowski was fired after he allegedly tried to shop negative stories about Jared to media outlets.

Ivanka reportedly threatened her father she would leave the campaign if Lewandowski stayed, and she and Jared pushed for Manafort to be brought in to supposedly bring more professionalism to the campaign. Four days after the August 14 Times report ran, Manafort resigned.
